Broken Wheat Sweet Pongal

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Broken wheat
  • 1/4 cup Moong dal
  • 3/4 cup jaggery
  • 2 cups+ 1/4 cup water
  • 4 green cardamom
  • as required Methi-size edible camphor
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 12 cashew nuts
  • as required Few raisins

Instructions

  • Wash and soak Moong Dal for 30 minutes. In a pressure cooker heat 1 tbsp ghee and roast broken wheat in low flame until golden.
  • Add in soaked Moong dal along with 2 cups water and pressure cook for 4 whistles until cooked well.
  • In a pan take crushed jaggery, add 1/4 cup water and boil until jaggery melts. Strain the jaggery liquid into the cooked wheat and dal mixture. Switch on the flame and let it cook for few minutes until well combined while smashing with back of a spoon.
  • Fry cashew and raisins in 2 tbsp ghee until golden. Add in powdered cardamom, camphor, fried nuts to Broken wheat Pongal and stir it.
  • Broken Wheat Sweet Pongal is ready to be served.

Notes/Tips

Garnish it well and use pure ghee for better result
