Presenting a very delightful and delicious dessert with an easy peasy preparation and can be prepared with a very few ingredients.

Poha kheer

  • 1 cup fine Poha / flattened rice
  • 500 ml Milk + 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 3 Cardamom pods
  • 4 tbsp Milk Powder
  • 2 tbsp Ghee + 1 tsp ghee
  • 8-10 Cashews, 5-6 Almonds


  • Assemble all ingredients
  • Chop Almonds and crush Cardamom.
  • Fry cashews till golden brown and keep aside.
  • In moderately heated pan add 2 tbsp ghee, add flattened rice and fry for 2-3 minutes till slight golden brown.
  • In pan add 1 tsp melted ghee, then add already boiled milk, add milk powder and mix very nicely. Now switch on flame and simmer milk for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add cardamom and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now add poha / flattened rice and mix well. Cook for 6 - 7 minutes under medium flame, we need to cook flattened rice.
  • Now add sugar + dry fruits and cook for 3-4 minutes under medium flame.
  • Simmer for 2 minutes under low flame. Consistency should be on the thinner side as after cooling flattened rice will soak milk and turn thick.
  • Now Poha Kheer is ready.
  • Serve after 1 - 2 hour, garnish with cashews or any dry fruits.
  • Either serve chilled or at room temperature.
